Syria: The armed people or against weapons?- September 10, 2015To
understand the current situation in Syria is necessary to analyze a
multitude of internal and external factors, ranging from the religious
to the political and economic. Rebellions interritory, ethnic and religious conflicts in nature, external attacks, alliances and oppositions, interventions, political and economic interests, all part within what
is the current Syrian conflict.
The country, located in the Middle East, is in civil war since 2011, driven by different rebel groups against the government of Bashar Al-Assad and the armed forces, with the aim of overthrowing President said power. At first, this conflict was influenced by the wave of revolutions in what was called "the Arab Spring" (2011) against the governments of countries like Egypt and Tunisia. Clearly, this variety of protests and complaints that led to certain conflicts in each country are strongly related also with ethnic and religious factors. It is therefore necessary to understand how the particular case of Syria, a country which contains within its territory multi-religious and ethnic diversity, ranging from different branches of Islam to Christianity.
